Sylvia is the Training Manager with Helen Tarokic Law PLLC, having been promoted after many years of service to the firm in other roles. As a Training Manager, Sylvia manages attorney-supervised training programs for the law firm paralegals and has been invited to speak at seminars to train other lawyers and paralegals on ethics, human trafficking screening, and other humanitarian immigration casework principles.
She dedicates her time to intake reviews and screening for human trafficking while outlining client’s immigration history and trains and guides paralegals as they learn similar tasks. Sylvia also prepares T visa statements and assists with a variety of immigration cases. Sylvia works with and trains others on case management software, data entry, and case preparation for attorney review. While working remotely, Sylvia interprets and translates on behalf of clients in English and Spanish.
Sylvia plays a key role in developing Learning and Development programs for employees. She is a creative teacher and mentor who designs and implements effective methods to educate, enhance performance, and recognize development opportunities for the team.
Outside of the office, Sylvia volunteers at Divine Saviour Catholic School in Los Angeles, California. She is a Marine Corps veteran and makes the trip to visit her fellow deported veterans every year in Tijuana, Mexico. In the past, Sylvia worked for the Topsail Police Department as part of their beach patrol and has also interned at the New Hanover County District Attorney’s Office.
Sylvia graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology and Sociology. She continues to seek programs to further educate herself on immigration to better serve our clients.
