Luz is a Spanish and English-speaking Secretary, Legal Assistant, and Notary Public who joined Helen Tarokic Law PLLC in July 2011. She is one of the few that hold a 10-years and counting title with our office.

Luz collaborates with office staff to ensure that the office is running smoothly. Her duties include, but are not limited to speaking to our clients, assisting our attorneys with their calendars, assisting staff with translations and interpreting needs, assembling case files for consultations, obtaining mail, going over contracts, accepting payments, and helping on client needs. Luz has also worked on various side projects to create improved and efficient office and client policies.

Luz was born in Colombia and moved to the United States when she was a young girl. She has always been passionate about her work within the Latin community, so she has contributed to the community in various ways. Luz worked to set up cultural events with Brunswick Community College and the Mexican Mobile Consulate in New Hanover County. In 2006, she was recognized by the Department of the Treasury for outstanding public service contributions to the community through the SPEC (Stakeholder Partnerships, Education and Communication), VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), and TCE (Tax Counseling for the Elderly) programs.
